East St. John was able to fight back from an early deficit to take a third inning lead, but couldn’t hold it as Dutchtown downed the visiting Ladycats last Thursday in a District 6-5A game, 14-4 in six innings by the 10-run rule.

Dutchtown (17-8, 5-2) is tied for second place in the district with East Ascension. St. Amant remains in first, undefeated in 6-5A play through seven games.

The Ladycats (12-14-1) took a 1-0 lead on a Stacy Sutton RBI single in the first inning. The Griffins answered in the bottom half, taking a 3-1 lead on the back of a 3-run home run.

ESJ returned the favor in the third inning with a blast from one of their own. Seymone McKinney reached on an error, and Lacy Sutton drew a walk. That set the table for Krista Tamplain, whose 3-run home run gave ESJ a 4-3 lead.

But Dutchtown would soon regain its grip on the game. It tied the game in the bottom of the third with a run. Then, in the fourth inning, The Griffins scored eight runs to make it 12-4.

Dutchtown scored two runs in the sixth inning to notch the win by the 10-run rule.

Seymone McKinney was 2-for-3 at the plate for East St. John.
