Airline Athletics offers Friday nights for teens

LAPLACE – As is all too often reported in the pages of this publication, local teens are getting into trouble more than ever. One of the major contributing factors to this trend is a lack of alternatives. With many local venues turning away teens in increasing numbers, as was recently seen with Clearview Mall in Metairie, many teens turn to delinquency simply out of boredom.

Airline Athletics’ latest venture intends to combat this trend. Simply called “Stacey’s” after Manager and program mastermind Stacey Berry, the fitness center transforms into a teen club every Friday night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Although Berry admits, “We’re just trying to get them in here right now,” she hopes the program will eventually expand to include seminars that will educate teens on how to stay out of trouble when they are not shaking it at “Stacey’s.”

Airline Athletics is located at 8896 Richmond Drive in LaPlace. Admission to “Stacey’s” is $5 before ten and $10 after 10 p.m. The fun lasts every Friday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. For more information, call Airline Athletics at 985-536-7500.
