West St. John’s Donald Brown, Tranell Mitchell and Julissa Loupe are among those who shined last Thursday at the West Feliciana Saints relays.
Brown took two second place finishes, placing second in the javelin with a throw of 165’1 and second in the triple jump with a 42’5.
Brown also placed fourth in the long jump, posting a 22’6.
Mitchell, meanwhile, set a career high in the triple jump, posting a 33’6 which was enough to take second place honors.“We’re real proud of Tranell,” said WSJ girls’ track coach Stacy Bradford. “She competed against some strong competition. She brought her best out for it.”
Loupe finished third in the shot put competition, posting a 33’6.
The Ram boys placed sixth overall in the competition. The girls placed seventh.
“I thought both our boys and girls did well,” said Bradford. “Some of the top schools in Louisiana were at that meet. We found out some new things the hard way though, some tiny things that we need to do to make us better and compete against these teams.”
West Feliciana took first overall for the girls with a score of 134. St. Amant finished first on the boys side with a score of 98.
