HAHNVILLE – A Luling teen may be facing charges of falsifying a police report after fabricating a story that she was kidnapped and raped while walking home Sunday night, said a spokesman for the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office

The 13-year-old girl, whose name was not released because she is a juvenile, reported to responding sheriff’s deputies that while she was walking in the 200 block of Davis Drive in Luling, an unknown male pulled up beside her in a pickup truck, grabbed her, and forced her inside her vehicle.

She said she was driven to an unknown residence on Marcia Drive, about a block away from where she was picked up, where the driver proceeded to sexually assault her. She said she was able to escape the home through a window.

Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, said as the investigation continued, detectives began to determine that the information the teen was giving them did not add up. He said there were too many inconsistencies in the story she relayed to her parents. LaGrange would not elaborate on the inconsistencies

LaGrange said the alleged victim eventually confessed to investigators that her story was untrue. She told detectives that on the night in question, she did meet up with an unknown male, whom she is a friend with, but fabricated the rape story because she feared being caught by her parents outside of her home after curfew.

LaGrange said the investigation is ongoing because the Sheriff’s Office wants to make certain there is nothing else left to uncover. It has not been determined whether or not the girl will be charged.

“When people fabricate things it takes away precious time for law enforcement officials to react to situations where people are really in trouble,” said LaGrange. “I hope this incident serves as a lesson for other young individuals.”
