After a strong season at Jones Community College in Ellisville, MS., former East St. John basketball standout Trenton Marshall is headed to Oklahoma State after reportedly giving the school a solid verbal commitment.
Marshall didn’t find it very hard to get noticed. The 6’5 swingman hit the ground running at Jones CC, averaging 23.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals a game in his first season. In addition, he showed his range, hitting on 36% of his 3-point shots. Marshall was considered by many to be the top junior college prospect available before his commitment.
He was named Honorable Mention for the National Junior College Athletic Association All-American team.
He also drew offers from Ole Miss, LSU, and Mississippi State.
His accomplishments in his prep career were no less spectacular. He averaged 20 points, 15 rebounds, and seven assists per game as a prep senior at East St. John, while leading the school to it’s first boys’ basketball district title in school history.
In addition to being named to the All-District and All-State teams, Marshall was named Class 5A’s Most Outstanding Player in 2007 by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Marshall played his junior and senior seasons as a Wildcat. Before that, he played for two seasons at Lutcher.
