LAPLACE – Louisiana State Police issued more than 72 drag racing citations early Monday morning on U.S. Highway 51 at Ruddock, police said. Drag racers and spectators were dispersed on two separate occasions, according to a Louisiana State Police press release.

The spectators were also issued citations as Louisiana law states “no person shall in any manner participate” in drag racing.

Violations of the drag racing provisions under Louisiana law are considered misdemeanors and carry a maximum fine of $175 and/or up to 30 days imprisonment for first time offenders.
