Seniors Jade Falgoust and Marci Millet, and junior Heidi Garcich each received Riverside’s highest athletic honor at the school’s athletic banquet last Tuesday.
Falgoust was recognized as the school’s Male Athlete of the Year, while Millet and Garcich took honors as the Female Athletes of the Year.
Falgoust was an All-District 10-2A performer in both baseball and football this season. He was the starting quarterback of the Rebel football team, piling up 862 rushing yards on 168 carries while passing for 861 yards. Falgoust accounted for 24 touchdowns this season. Defensively, he racked up 38 tackles with 22 assists and four interceptions.
Millet was All-District 10-2A over three sports: volleyball, basketball, and softball. On top of that, she was named MVP of the All-District volleyball team, and co-MVP of the All-District softball team.
Her 701 kills for the volleyball team this past season was one of the highest marks ever amassed in Louisiana . She hit .414 in softball while knocking home 27 RBIs. In basketball, Millet led her team with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Garcich, like Millet, was an All-District performer in three sports – volleyball, soccer, and softball, where she earned co-MVP honors with Millet.
Her .566 batting average went a long way in helping the Rebel softball team secure an undefeated district title. She led the Rebels in goals scored in soccer, and was second on the volleyball team in digs (605) and kills (287).
The two combined to lead the softball team to the Class 2A state semifinals.
