LUTCHER, LA – The St. James Parish School Board is changing the phone systems by implementing the new Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) system.
The phone system still offers the features of the traditional systems, however, the new system will offer users the ability to connect to the web or corporate intranet, access to network data and web-based services through the phone.
The prefix as well as the extensions to the Service office phone numbers is changing as well. The new prefix number is 258.
Lutcher High School and the Career and Technology Center’s numbers have changed with the system, while the other school sites in the parish are scheduled to receive the upgrades in the months leading to the new school year.
“We want our parents and community to be more engaged in our schools.” SJPPS Superintendent, Dr. Lonnie Luce said. “Changing over to this new system will allow us to have more phone lines at a much lower recurring cost.”
A list of the new extensions for the SJPPS Service office can be found on the SJPPS website at http://www.stjames.k12.la.us/.
