Cedric Jenkins, Reserve Christian (BSK) – While Reserve fell in the first round of the Sunkist tournament last weekend, the Eagles bounced back with wins over three strong foes to win the consolation bracket. After RCS defeated Ellender last Sunday, Jenkins led the Eagles over Teurlings Catholic the following day, scoring 29 points in a 76-58 victory.

Mechel’le Thomas, East St. John (BSK) – The Wildcats needed a big win to bolster confidence before district play, and they got it against Mount Carmel on Friday. Thomas was a big reason why. She carved up the Cub defense for 25 points, while also setting up teammates with her drives to the basket. Thomas has made the Class 5A All-State team her home over her ESJ career, and seems well on her way back.
