LAPLACE – Authorities with CrimeStoppers announced this week they are offering a cash reward for anyone with information regarding an October hit and run accident on Airline Highway that killed a Reserve woman.
CrimeStoppers Director Darlene Cusanza said her office is offering up to $2,500 for any information on the accident, which claimed the life of 36-year-old Dione Duhe. A passing vehicle struck Duhe as she tried to cross Airline Highway near Belle Pointe Boulevard in Reserve.
“Anyone offering tips that lead to an arrest are free to remain anonymous,” Cusanza said. “We are seeking whatever we can get on this case.”
According to a release from State Police Duhe was struck and killed as she tried to cross Airline at 5:45 a.m. on Oct. 14. Family members said Duhe had arrived early to a medical appointment and was crossing the street to a nearby store to grab a drink and a newspaper.
Witnesses on the scene said Duhe stepped right into the path of the vehicle, which was traveling westbound on Airline Highway. The vehicle is described as a dark-colored 1994 to 1998 Ford Mustang.
The driver, who has not been identified, struck Duhe near the intersection and continued traveling west. According to the accident report, witnesses said the driver never stopped.
Anyone with information on incident is asked to contact Trooper David Easley at Troop B at 504-471-2775 or CrimeStoppers at 1-877-903-STOP.
