LAPLACE – A LaPlace man was arrested Thursday for allegedly helping two other men rob a 66-year-old man as he was leaving a LaPlace convenience store earlier this month, according to a spokesman for the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Shawn Fisher, 39, turned himself in at the Sheriff’s detective bureau just after 9:40 a.m., said Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office. He said Fisher had been wanted since Oct. 7 in connection with the Oct. 2 robbery.
Clement said Fisher had driven Lance Permillion, 33, and Kendall Smith, 28, to a convenience store in the 900 block of East Airline Highway, where they robbed the victim after he had cashed a check inside the store. Clement said the men had known prior to the robbery that the victim would be cashing the check at that time.
A report from the Sheriff’s Office said Fisher entered the store and signaled Permillion and Smith once the victim had cashed the check. As the victim tried to leave the store, Permillion and Smith overpowered him, threw him to the ground and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash. Clement said neither suspect was armed during the incident.
Clement said investigators used video surveillance and a description from the victim to identify the two suspects. He said both men were arrested on Oct. 6 for simple robbery.
Fisher was booked Thursday into the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace on a charge of principle to simple robbery.
Clement said Fisher’s bond information was not available as of press time Friday.
According to prison records, Permillion and Smith also remained in jail Friday.
