LAPLACE – Jacob’s World Famous Andouille, which caught on fire Monday, will be back in business Thursday.
Although he had initially hoped to reopen today, Jacob’s owner Aaron Lions said he and his staff needed one more day to clean up.
On Monday, one of the smokehouses caught on fire. The fire was contained to the smokehouse area and extinguished in less than an hour.
On Wednesday, the smell of sausage slow smoking wafted through the air, overpowering the far-less-pleasant smell of burning wood that permeated the air Monday. For the time being, Jacob’s will be operating at reduced capacity, but Lions said he plans to offer the full range of Jacob’s products.
“We’re back in action,” said Lions, adding, “We’re going to do everything we can to have everything.”
