Bryton Trepagnier is preparing to once again anchor the East St. John rotation with the prep baseball season kicking off this week. But now, we know the next staff the senior right-hander will bolster after his graduation.

Trepagnier recently signed a scholarship with Bossier Parish Community College to continue his education and extend his baseball career.

“It’s relief and it’s joy,” said Trepagnier of his feelings on the signing. “The good thing is there’s no pressure on me from that angle in my senior year. I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. This is pretty special.”

East St. John coach Ryan Sims has been able to count on Trepagnier to take the ball and give his team a chance to win against some of the top teams in the state – there are no easy outs in District 6-5A, a slate that includes returning playoff teams in Destrehan, Hahnville, and Dutchtown.

“He’s the best pitcher we have and this is just such a great accomplishment for him,” said East St. John coach Ryan Sims.

“He’s going to develop into a quality all-around college pitcher. He’s getting stronger as he gets older. He’s growing into that body and he’s a guy that can throw it hard.”

Trepagnier said that he discussed the decision with his family and is confident that Bossier Parish is the place for him.

“I wanted to be close to home,” said Trepagnier. “It’s the best fit. I’m really looking forward to this season and then going off and experiencing college.”
