The Lord always provides when you are in need

I should know by now that God provides, regardless of the need. In my life He has never failed me or my family. Knowing His faithfulness doesn’t stop me from being anxious when a need is not met as the time draws near.

Last week, I was concerned about Get High on Life’s 11th Annual Super Bowl Breakfast on Saturday. As the date was fast approaching, I needed to find a couple of musicians to play “When the Saints Go Marching In” and “Amazing Grace.”

Some people I had used in the past were either out of town or not available. I know that God always provides, but I began thinking that maybe He doesn’t think the breakfast is that important. I should have known better than to have those thoughts, because He is concerned about every little issue in our lives.

While enjoying a cup of coffee at PJ’s in the middle of the week, I noticed Mrs. Merin Templet with her son, Jacob. I went up to them and said hello.

The subject of school came up, and I found out that Jacob was 13 years old and an eighth-grader at St. Joan of Arc. He shared that he played in the school band. I asked if he played the trumpet. He said, “No, the saxophone, but my brother, Matthew, plays the trumpet.” I asked Mrs. Templet if they could play “When the Saints Go Marching In” and “Amazing Grace.” She confidently said, “They’re good.”

“Would you allow them to play Saturday at the Super Bowl Breakfast in Lutcher?” I asked. Jacob, a little hesitant, said that he would think about it.

I asked Mrs. Templet to find out if Matthew would play and to please call me back. She did, and she asked if I wanted to hear them play over the phone. They sounded great!

The breakfast was successful. Thanks to Jacob and Matthew for being obedient to God’s call and using their gifts to bless those in attendance.

Mrs. Templet had to be the proudest person in attendance. I wish their dad, Dwayne, and sister, Marissa, a sophomore at St. Charles Catholic High School, could have been there. However, I’m sure the family will have many more opportunities to hear the boys perform.
