LAPLACE – Two men were killed and two others were injured early Friday morning in a car accident on Louisiana Highway 3127 in Wallace, according to a spokesman for Louisiana State Police.
Trooper Bryan Zeringue, spokesman for State Police Troop C, said James Davis, 56, and Kerry Rodrigue, 46, both of Plaquemine, were killed when the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck they were riding in collided with an unoccupied, parked vehicle. Zeringue said neither wore a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Two other occupants of the Silverado, Colby Landry, 21, the driver of the truck, and Reggie Daigle, 33, a front passenger, suffered moderate injuries in the crash. Zeringue said Landry and Daigle, both of Pierre Part, were wearing seat belts.
Zeringue said the accident happened about 5:15 p.m. on La. 3127 near the St. James/St. John the Baptist Parish line. Investigators said Landry was attempting to pass another vehicle when he lost control of the Silverado and crashed into another vehicle parked on the shoulder of the highway. Davis and Rodrigue were pronounced dead at the scene, while Landry and Daigle were both taken to the hospital.
Investigators said speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
