LAPLCE – A 17-year-old Reserve man sustained gunshot wounds to both his legs during a shooting on Joe Parquet Circle in LaPlace Wednesday night, according to a release from the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, said deputies responded to the 200 block of Joe Parquet Circle around 7:10 p.m. Wednesday after calls about gunshots in the area. He said when the deputies arrived they found the victim with wounds to his right thigh just above the knee, as well as his left calf.
“The victim told deputies he was visiting family members in the area when a white Ford Crown Victoria approached,” Clement said. “He heard multiple gun shots and was shot in both legs. He ran from the area to an adjacent property where deputies located him.”
Clement said the victim told deputies he did not see the shooter or recognize the vehicle. The reporting deputy attempted to speak to several people at the scene, but all declined to get involved with the investigation.
Clement said the victim was transported to River Parish Hospital in LaPlace for treatment of his injuries, which Clement said were not serious. He has since been released.
Detectives have no motive or suspects at this time. Any one with information regarding the shooting should call St. John Sheriff’s Detective Staty Lewis at 985-359-8769 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
