Wayne “Pint” Hymel Sr., 74, passed away on July 4, 2010, at St. James Parish Hospital while recovering from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident March 10. He was born on Mt. Airy Sugar Plantation in Mt. Airy and was a resident of Gramercy.
He was the beloved husband of Janet Bourgeois Hymel for 53 years and the father and father-in-law of Kathy Hymel Roussel and Miko Roussel; Belinda Hymel Martin and Gene-O Martin; Melissa “Missy” Hymel Laurent and Leonce “Leaky” Laurent; Wayne “Boe” Hymel Jr. and Dru Roussel Hymel; and Troy Hymel and Terri Deroche Hymel. He was the grandfather of Dylan Roussel, Brent Louque Jr., Brittney Louque, Brennan Louque, Jessica Laurent Malbrough, Evan Laurent, Vincent Laurent, Wayne Hymel III, Wyatt Hymel, Kimberly Hymel and Ty Hymel and great-grandfather of Havyn Louque and Dominic Malbrough and his beloved pet, Sofie. He was the brother of Lawrence “Peter” Hymel and George “Scrap” Hymel as well as the son-in-law of Roy “Chink” Bourgeois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Moise and Regina Mire Hymel, and brothers, Ellis Hymel Sr. and Dale Hymel Sr.
Pallbearers will be his eight grandsons.
He was co-owner of CMI, H. Construction, Hymel Brothers, Uncle Sam Planting and Golden Grove Truck Stop. He was an avid hunter and member of Big Track Hunting Club and a member of Sacred Heart Parish Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to River Road Youth Group or Sacred Heart Debt Reduction, P. O. Box 129, Paulina, LA 70763.
Visitation will be at Rose Lynn Funeral Home, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher on Wednesday, July 7, from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy, at 11 a.m. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
