Edward A. Dufresne Jr., 72, chief judge of the Louisiana 5th Circuit Court of Appeal, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010.
He was owner of Jackie Bee Investments LLC and Esperanza Land LLC. He served as St. Charles Parish Clerk of Court and 29th Judicial District Judge Division D before being elected to the state appeals court.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Dorothy St. Amant Dufresne; four daughters: Debra Vial (David Sr.), Dana Authement (Louis), Denise Hymel (James Sr.) and Dawn Dawson (Michael); 10 grandchildren: David and Dena Vial, Grant, Ross, Dane, Bryce and Ayden Authement, Jimmy and Justin Hymel and Anna Irene Dawson; and two step-grandchildren: Monica St. Cyr and Megan Dawson.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward August Dufresne, Sr. and Irene Ludwig Delahay Dufresne; and in-laws: William and Dorothy St. Amant.
Visitation was held Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville and continued on Friday, Dec. 10. Mass of Christian Burial was held at the church with Fr. B. Francis officiating. Private graveside services followed in the family cemetery.
