Frances Carboni, best known as Maw Maw Boni and Franny Granny, who dedicated her life to children, died at River Parishes Hospital on Dec. 5, 2010, following a courageous battle with heart and lung condition.
She was born Oct. 25, 1936, in Louisville, Ky., to the late Claude and Willow Boswell. She worked for Kindercare for 25 years, retired, continued childcare and inspired many children up until her death.
Frances is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Carboni, nine children, 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She resided in Kenner for 50 years and LaPlace for 19 years.
She is also survived by daughter Catherine Munoz, grandsons Frankie and Ricky Munoz, son and wife John Carboni and Kim, grandson and wife John and Amber Carboni, great-grandsons John IV and Zachary, grandson Nicky Carboni, grandson and wife Chris and Erin, great-grandson Kayden, grandson Casey, daughter Rose Garcia and husband Carl Garcia, grandchildren Michele Burch and husband Mathew, great-grandson Aiden, grandson Carl Garcia, daughter Lena Wimprine, husband Don, granddaughter Victoria Lynn, daughter Theresa Portie, granddaughters Ashley Lynn Falkenstein, Kerry Portie, Michele Portie, grandson Mikey Portie, daughter Linda Carboni, son Chris Hattala, grandson Matthew, son Steve Orgeron and wife Pam and granddaughter Karleigh.
Funeral services were held, Thursday, Dec. 9, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Kenner. Following Mass a celebration of life luncheon in honor of Frances was held in the Yenni Hall next to church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in honor of St. Rosalia.
