Reader eager for return of recycling in St. Charles

Dear Editor (as written to St. Charles Parish Councilmen Dennis Nuss and Larry Cochran):

I would like to thank you for providing an opportunity for the people to speak to the very important issue of recycling by scheduling town hall meetings on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. at the parish courthouse in the main courtroom and on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. at the east bank regional library in Destrehan.

I hope everyone across America will take a major interest in recycling, and it would speak well of St. Charles Parish to put a responsible and affordable program in place. Recycling is vital, and we need to be on board in some capacity. I served on the original recycling committee, and a recycling program was put in place. Any program adopted should be continuously promoted in our schools and to parish residents by parish administration. Katrina occurred and compromised many programs throughout the affected area. This is an issue that will not go away and will negatively affect all unless addressed. I sincerely hope that recycling can be resumed in St Charles Parish.

Thank you,

Marilyn Richoux
