LAPLACE – The LaPlace Lions Club spent a recent Saturday morning repainting and doing maintenance work on the “Welcome to LaPlace” signs on Airline Highway and Highway 51. Lions Club members Todd Bourgeois, Bryan Castillo, Ben Ory, Woody Nordsworthy and Mike Tregre were on hand sanding, painting and grinding the signs.
The signs were originally constructed in 1985 by the Lions Club, and members have cared for them ever since. The club also pays the monthly electrical bill to light the two signs.
“We’re proud to take on this responsibility and beautify our community. These signs welcome visitors to LaPlace and are often the first thing people see when coming into our community,” said Lion Bryan Castillo.
