St. Charles election results

School Board member Ellis Alexander Sr. won re-election to the St. Charles School Board Saturday.
Alexander received 75 percent, or 748 votes. Challenger Milton Allemand Jr., Hahnville, received 25 percent, or 256 votes.
St. Charles voters also approved three millages.
• Ten-year, 4.5 mills property tax for maintaining, operating, constructing, improving and supporting public libraries passed with 66 percent of the vote;
• Ten-year, 1 mill property tax for improving, maintaining and/or operating public buildings of the parish and acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining and/or operating 911 emergency telephone system (including the payment of necessary dispatch personnel), passed with 68 percent of the vote; and
• Ten-year, 1.75 mills property tax for providing and maintaining electric lights on the streets, roads, highways, alleys and public places passed with 69 percent of the vote.
