A silent battle for Christians everywhere

As I was about to enter the Sandwich World in Gramercy Tuesday morning, Johnny Norris and Butch Millet were in what seemed to be a deep discussion. Johnny stopped me and asked me if I heard about what a small community in Michigan did when an atheist requested the town to remove a cross from a bridge.
To avoid a court battle, the town removed it. The atheist then objected to the cross on the city shield and the town removed it, also.
The Christians in the community finally had enough, so hundreds of them put small white crosses in their yards to make a statement.
Now, two years later, all the crosses are still up and the idea is growing across our nation.
Johnny said he felt that with the many judgments across this country banning religion and any reference of God in public places, it is time the Christians make a silent stand by placing a small white cross in their yard. He continued, “I want to publicly invite all Christian leaders and church support organizations in this area to take on this project at their respective churches. There are no boundaries in Christianity.”
I’ve known Johnny for a few years and that was the longest discussion I ever had with him. It was exciting to see the enthusiasm and passion he had for this project called, “Christian Unity for the Community.”
I pray that surrounding communities will join the crusade to remind all people what Jesus did at the Cross. It is best expressed by the following words from the song, At the Cross:
“At the Cross, at the Cross, where I first saw the light and the burden of my heart rolled away. It was there by faith I received my sight and now I am happy all the day.”
