Maddy King, a senior at East St. John High School, was recently selected to serve as a freshman counselor for the Louisiana Girls State program, which she attended at Northwestern State University this past summer. She will be returning to the program to assist other counselors this upcoming summer. This program is sponsored by the American Legion. In the fall, King will be attending LSU in Baton Rouge, where she will pursue a degree in political science. She is the daughter of Jason and Valarie King of LaPlace.
