LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish officials announced today that the parish is staging a parade in honor of Edgard native and Super Bowl Champion fullback Quinn Johnson.
The parade is set for Saturday at 11:30 a.m. The procession will take off from West St. John High School and proceed down Louisiana 640 to River Road turning toward the St. John Parish Courthouse.
Johnson, a former West St. John High School and LSU standout, is a member of the Green Bay Packers, who defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 in Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington Texas.
In addition to his role in getting the Packers a championship, Johnson was also a state champion at West St. John (2003) and a national champion at LSU (2007).
“We are so proud of Quinn for all of his accomplishments,” said Parish President Natalie Robottom. “By winning championships in high school, college, and as a member of the NFL, he has achieved the highest goal at each level of his football career. I am excited to congratulate him on his big win with a day proclaimed in his name.”
Robottom will honor Johnson at Tuesday’s Parish Council meeting by naming Feb. 6, the day of Super Bowl XLV, Quinn Johnson Day.
