STRAYER

Garry Lee Strayer, 53, left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011.
He was born Oct. 24, 1957, and was the son of the late William Strayer and Hilda Lee Leary Strayer Boudreaux.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Bill Strayer and Johnnie Strayer.
Garry worked for Mundy Construction Co. at General Electric for over 16 years.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia “Trish” Faircloth Strayer; daughters Amanda Strayer, Fonda Stavey and Priscilla Soles; twin brother Terry Lee Strayer of Reserve; brothers-in-law Anthony Sellers (Barbara) and Wayne Faircloth (Linda); sister-in-law Pearl Norton; 10 grandchildren; special friends Cathy and Ronnie Lewis, Rev. Tom and Arelene Male, Amy and Steve Suek and Brenda Biggs; many friends at G.E.; and his church family whom he loved dearly.
Garry was a devoted husband and caring father, grandfather and brother who dedicated his life to his wife and family. He was a strong, courageous and yet gentle man who brought out the good in all those who were near and dear to him. For those who knew Garry, loved Garry, and he was loved in return.
He was a true friend to many, especially to those he worked with and his church family. He enjoyed working in his yard, planting flowers and watching them grow, as long as his health permitted.
Garry will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, love for family and friends and his steadfast faith in God.
Funeral services were held at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Wilmington, N.C., with the Reverend Tom Male officiating.
