Houma Arts council announces grants deadline

HOUMA – The Houma Regional Arts Council announces the July 20, application deadline to apply for funding through the Decentralized Arts Funding Program. The deadline has been extended from the original deadline date of June 30.
The Decentralized Arts Funding Program is a service for funding arts and cultural activities occurring in Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist and Terrebonne parishes. The program is supported by the Louisiana Division of the Arts and is administered by the Houma Regional Arts Council. The grant supports activities that occur between October 2011 and September 2012.
Any non-profit organization in the six-parish region presenting an arts or cultural project may apply for funding. Applicants may be awarded up to $7,000 to support open-to-the-public arts programs. Organizations are not required to make a cash or in-kind match to the amount awarded. Projects previously funded by the DAF program include K-12 school-based artist residencies, music and dance performances, child and adult visual art workshops, theatrical productions and arts and cultural-based festivals.
The Houma Regional Arts Council will host grant writing workshops in each of its six parishes between until June 29. All workshops are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. The workshops are:
