SPC eighth-graders move up

St. Peter Chanel School held its eighth-grade commencement mass and award ceremony at St. Joseph Church. Students receiving diplomas were Laynie Arceneaux, Quin Brewer, Cody Duhe, Victoria Mohon, Randy Ngo, Bethany Plaisance, Tiffanie Poche, Denise Rouillier, Ashley Tucker and Kate Waguespack.

The following awards were given:

Laynie Arceneaux: Eighth Grade Student of the Year, Highest Average Grades 1-8, Reading and Social Studies Awards, Woodmen of the World Award, second place-Knights of Columbus Essay Contest and Presidential Academic Achievement Award.

Cody Duhe: first place-Knights of Columbus Essay Contest.

Victoria Mohon: Catholic Daughters Scholarship, St. Peter Chanel Christian Award, Religion Award and Presidential Academic Achievement Award.

Randy Ngo: Bishop Stanley Ott Award.

Tiffanie Poche: Athletic Scholastic Award, Math and Science Awards and Presidential Academic Achievement Award.

Ashley Tucker: third place-Knights of Columbus Essay Contest.

Denise Rouillier: Gina Troxclair Memorial Award.

Kate Waguespack: English Award and Presidential Academic Achievement Award.

A reception honoring the graduates was held immediately following in the school cafetorium.
