LaPlace Lions Club President Dr. Christy Montegut (right) is shown with Sheriff Wayne L. Jones, who was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellow award for dedicated humanitarian services to the Lions Club International Foundation. This award is the highest award a Lions Club member can receive after 15 years of active and outstanding membership. Jones received this award at the LaPlace Lions Club Banquet recently. Jones has been a member of the Lions Club for the last 27 years and has served as president for two years. The LaPlace Lions Club also donated $1,000 to Lions Club International in the name of Jones.
