KENNER — A strong rushing attack was the key for Bonnabel Friday night as the Bruins toppled West St. John, 34-7.

Darius Gardner scored two touchdowns and topped 100 yards rushing for Bonnabel. Ryan Evans and Mike Alexander also scored rushing touchdowns for the Bruins.

Kylum Favorite led West St. John’s rushing attack with 44 yards on 16 carries. Jarius Moll scored his team’s lone touchdown, scoring on an 18-yard pass from Austin Howard just before halftime — it cut a two-touchdown Bruins lead to 14-7 after the Rams forced a fumble on Bonnabel’s previous possession.

But Bonnabel scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to close it out, including two 30-plus yard scoring runs.

WSJ finished with 163 total yards of offense, with 77 rushing yards and 86 passing yards.
