River Region Drama Guild theatre workshop
Published 12:00 am Saturday, December 24, 2011
The River Region Drama Guild will hold a Children’s Theatre Workshop at the River Region Performing Arts and Cultural Center, 15246 River Road, Norco, beginning Jan. 7. The workshop will be held on Saturday mornings for four Saturdays in January 2012, 9 a.m.-noon. The workshop will continue on Jan. 14, 21 and 28. A final public performance will be held on Jan. 28, 2 p.m. The workshop is open to boys and girls ages 8-12 and is one continuous program building on each previous Saturday’s work. The workshop is sponsored by the United Way of St. Charles and is free to participants.
This workshop is designed for beginners as well as experienced participants. The program teaches theatrical techniques through an informal structure and promotes self-expression and teamwork. In the workshop they will play theatre games, work on improvisational skills, study characterization and explore their “self.” In the process we build esteem, self-confidence, public speaking skills and an awareness of a true teamwork effort – all “life skills” necessary in that mythical “real-world” often heard about. The level of the games and applications is a function of the age of the class.
Advance registration is not required. For more information contact Henry Sorbet at 504-904-1129.
