LAPLACE – The long summer break came to an end for most students in St. John the Baptist Parish as schools across the area re-opened Thursday morning.

Students in grades 1-12 reported to classes Thursday as teachers and principals directed them to their respective classrooms. Incoming ninth graders at East St. John High School’s Freshman Academy started Wednesday.

The break is a little bit longer for those in kindergarten, universal preschool, LA-4 and Model Early classes, however, as they report to school Thursday, Aug. 16. Students enrolled in this year’s HeadStart Program will report to their assigned schools on Monday, Aug. 27.
