Warren James “Snook” Eugene, 83, was born Sept. 17, 1928, and succumbed to cancer at Our Lady of Lakes Hospital on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, while surrounded by his spouse of 57 years, Cleo Eugene, daughter, Gaynelle Eugene Ransom, and son-in-law, Cecil Ransom.
Warren was a native of LaPlace and resident of Lutcher for 57 years. He served in the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He retired as a restaurant, night club and real estate businessman.
He is survived by five siblings: Ann Hines (Freddie), Marie Johnson (Leo), Donna Jean Jackson (Rogers), Bernell Charles Sr. (Dianna) and Linda Clayton. He is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Robert and Verdean Clements, Audrey Davis, Lavrence Marshall Sr. and Floyd and Gwen Marshall Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Octave Eugene and Daisy Melancon Eugene Charles, stepmother Thelma Eugene, stepfather Clarence Charles; and brothers-in-law Paul Marshall Jr., James Marshall Sr. and Clifton Davis Sr.
Visitation and services were held on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina. Interment was at St. Joseph Mausoleum, with Father Vincent Defresne as celebrant.
