Off to Oklahoma

Shelby Reine, an eighth-grader at St. Joan of Arc, qualified to participate in the American Quarter Horse Association Youth World Finals in Oklahoma City. Each state sends youths who have qualified at the state level in various classes to participate in the finals. Reine made the semi-finals on both of her horses, Top Sail Oak and Intrinsic Ability, in reining and qualified Top Sail Oak in the finals. Out of 105 horses Reine, who is 13 years old, finished 11th in the world among youths 18 and under.

Reine also qualified for The National Reining Horse Association Regional Finals in Tulsa, Okla. this August where she was awarded Reserve Champion on Top Sail Oak and third on Intrinsic Ability. The top eight finishers from each class advance to the NRHA finals in Oklahoma City in December. There Reine will compete against the best of the best for the Champion title.
