Property owners in St. Charles, St. John, can review, dispute tax bills

LAPLACE – The period allowing property owners in St. John the Baptist and St. Charles Parishes to view their tax assessments at the assessor’s office is currently under way. The review is part of the state mandated tax roll inspection and correction process.
The process began Oct. 3 in St. John Parish and continues through Oct. 16. The deadline to file an appeal is Oct. 17. In St. Charles, the process began Monday, and the deadline for residents to dispute the amount of taxes owed is Oct. 30. The Parish Council acts as the Board of Review.
The St. John Parish Assessor’s Office is located in Room 103 at the Percy Hebert government building, 1801 W. Airline Highway, LaPlace. The St. Charles Parish Assessor’s Office is located on the first floor of the parish courthouse, 15045 River Road, Hahnville.
