LAPLACE – A 39-year-old LaPlace man was arrested Thursday after sheriff’s deputies saw him purchase items necessary to create a methamphetamine laboratory.

Michael Garrett, 860 Louisiana Highway 680, was charged with three counts of creation of a clandestine laboratory. Bond was set at $45,000.

On Oct. 19, St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff’s detectives initiated an investigation into Garrett’s activities after a tip that he had purchased precursors used for creating a methamphetamine lab. On Thursday, detectives received additional information and observed Garrett purchasing precursors to methamphetamine production before making the arrest.
