NORCO – The Norco Christmas Parade once again took to the streets of Norco Sunday, as it does every year on the first Sunday in December.
The crowd may have been wearing shorts, but that did not stop Santa and Mrs. Claus from anchoring a celebration featuring local marching bands and dance teams as well as floats and other vehicles.
Employees at local businesses and industry and members of other organizations rode atop floats tossing beads to the throngs of revelers who crowded the streets of the small enclave nestled between the refineries and the Bonnet Carre Spillway.
The theme of this year’s celebration was “Santa Hosts the Super Bowl,” and a number of floats features fleur de lis and other Saints-related emblems and slogans, despite the team having been all but eliminated from the playoff race with its loss to Atlanta Thursday.
As usual, the parade ended with a community celebration in the Capital One parking lot, where Santa was available for photos.
