LAPLACE – On Thursday, Nov. 8, at 10:52 p.m., St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 200 block of Joe Parquet Circle in LaPlace after receiving a report of several gunshots in the area.

When deputies arrived, they found a male 17-year-old LaPlace resident with a single gunshot wound in his lower left leg. He was transported to River Parishes Hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown.

No one else was injured during the incident.

The victim told investigators he was walking to his mother’s apartment when a vehicle pulled up. A man exited the vehicle and shot at him. The victim provided detectives with no additional information.  

The investigation is ongoing.
