Shooting investigation

LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday night.
Deputies responded to the 1700 block of Creole Street in LaPlace for the report of gunshots. As they arrived on the scene, they were advised that a man had arrived at the River Parishes Hospital emergency room with a gunshot wound to the chest area. The victim, a 24-year-old Reserve man, was transferred
to a New Orleans-area hospital for treatment and is in guarded condition.
No one else was injured during the incident. Two vehicles and a residence were hit with projectiles, however.
Progress with the investigation has been hindered because of a lack of cooperation from the victim. Citizens with information about this incident can call Crimestoppers and submit an anonymous tip to qualify for a cash reward. Callers with information do not have to testify in court and will be issued a tip number to be identified for a potential reward.
