A few months ago, at a Bible sharing men’s meeting, a young man whom I’ve known for many years, shared his broken heart about the upcoming wedding of his only daughter. She was 7 years old when he and his wife were divorced, and because of his rebellious lifestyle, he didn’t have much of a relationship with her.

His ex-wife remarried, and his daughter’s

stepdad was the fatherly figure most of her formative years. She let it be known that her stepdad would have the honor of walking her down the aisle.

He shared how hurt he was but said that he understood, even though it was hard to accept.

He then had to decide whether he should attend the wedding. He battled with this hurt and disappointment for a few months, but he, along with his mother, father and other family members, attended the wedding a few weeks ago.  

As the legendary Paul Harvey would have said, “Now for the rest of the story.”  

With a joyous and thankful heart, he shared last week with the same Bible group, what happened at the reception. He said he felt a little out of place, but it turned out to be one of the most exciting moments of his life.  

As is customary, the bride had a dance with the groom. Once this was over, his ex-wife took the microphone and to everyone’s surprise announced that the next dance would be with her dad.  

He was shocked but excited that she and

his daughter, in spite of all their rough times, found it in their hearts to forgive him and allowed him to be a part of his daughter’s special day.  

With tears in his eyes, he said that as they danced, they both cried, as did their families and many in attendance.

I hope this article sends a message to everyone that God is the Author of transformation. He heals all hurts and changes the hearts of people.
