Juanita M. Hill earned a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Southeastern Louisiana University this summer. Hill has been in the field of education for 18 years, 16 years with St. John the Baptist School district. Currently, she is the only school site administrator (principal or assistant principal) in St. John the Baptist Parish school district with a doctorate’s degree.
Hill is an assistant principal at Emily C. Watkins Elementary School. She said, “Education is one constant in life that one can control as one positions oneself for success. Although, achieving such accomplishments can be challenging, overcoming the obstacles makes the final achievement much more honorable.”
With that in mind, the words of renowned educator, Booker T. Washington remain in her heart: “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life….as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.”
Hill said that several of her colleagues here in St. John the Baptist Parish Schools are pursuing doctorate’s degrees.
Hill is the wife of Claude Hill Jr., and the mother of Lela Hill and Claude Hill III.
