Edgard man charged after store incident

LAPLACE – On Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 1:31 p.m., St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Walmart at 1616 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace for the report of a disturbance in the store.
When the responding deputy arrived on the scene, he spoke with the complainant, who stated that he was struck in the face by an unknown male subject who was still in the store. The victim, a 64 year-old man from Reserve, was transported to River Parishes Hospital for treatment and released.
When the deputy made contact with and attempted to apprehend the suspect, the subject was noncompliant and combative with the deputy. Assisting deputies soon arrived, and the man was detained and transported for booking.
He was identified as Amad Borne, 35, of East 13th Street in Edgard. Deputies arrested Borne and booked him with two counts of disturbing the peace, simple battery of the aged, three counts of resisting a deputy with force or violence and three counts ofbattery of a deputy. Borne remains in custody in lieu of a $20,500.00 bond.
Borne has been arrested 47 times in St. John the Baptist Parish since August 1995.
