St. James returns to round two, dominates Lake Arthur 47-23

LAPLACE—Not only did St. James, previously winless in each of its last two seasons, return to the playoffs in 2013: it’s now on to the second round.

The Wildcats upset No. 7 seed Lake Arthur Friday night, taking a dominating 47-23 Class 2A bi-district round victory behind Lowell Narcisse’s six total touchdowns.

The freshman passer passed for 169 and three scores while rushing for 108 yards and three more touchdowns on 14 carries. He completed 11 of his 23 pass attempts.

Curtian Johnson was the Wildcats’ second leading rusher, gaining 43 yards and a touchdown on three carries.

D’kwan Sandolph had another strong day, hauling in six receptions for 103yards and two touchdowns. Qui Adams also scored on a 20-yard reception.

After Lake Arthur cut a 13-0 St. James lead to 13-7 midway through the second quarter, the night belonged to the Wildcats. SJH scored the game’s next five touchdowns to lead 47-7 at one point.

Lake Arthur freshman Trey Hargrove carried his team’s offense, rushing a whopping 53 times for 281 yards and two touchdowns.

St. James (5-6) held Lake Arthur (6-5) to just three third down conversions in 14 attempts.

The 22nd seeded Wildcats will face No. 6 Sterlington in round two.
