LAPLACE – St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office officials announced that they had discovered a body floating in the canal next to U.S. Highway 61 on Thursday morning.
At approximately 10 a.m., the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting the discovery of a body floating in the canal north of the St. James Parish Boat Club.
The body was that of a white male.
The St. James Parish Coroner has ordered an autopsy to be performed to determine the cause of death. Detectives are continuing their investigation.
