Two men arrested in LaPlace in connection to double shooting investigation, sheriff reports

Two men involved in a shoot-out  are in critical condition after apparently shooting each other inside a pickup truck parked in LaPlace on Monday, according to St. John The Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The men identified as 22-year-old Marcus White of LaPlace and 20-year-old Jaron Robinson of Hammond, shot each other following a dispute inside a pickup truck on the 2100 block of Van Arpel Drive. The nature of the alleged dispute was not disclosed.

Deputies had responded to the scene around 3:40 p.m. after reports of gunfire. The two men were taken to Ochsner Medical Facility in LaPlace with gunshot wounds.

Detectives arrested James and a second man, Judah Coleman, 19, of LaPlace, who is believed to be a friend of White. During the investigation, authorities recovered five firearms, including two “ghost guns” with no visible serial numbers.

Coleman was booked with two counts of possession of an unidentifiable firearm, a felony. James was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a felony, and violation of probation or parole. Both men are being held in the parish jail.
