ArtsFest fun planned March 7 in St. Charles

LULING — St. Charles Parish Public Schools will celebrate the performing and creative arts at its 7th annual ArtsFest March 7.

The festival takes place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Professional Learning Center, 12727 Highway 90 in Luling. Organizers said arts lovers will find something they will enjoy at this free event throughout the day.

Festival-goers will see examples of how students, teachers and the community produce, perform and value the arts in local, public schools.

Students from all schools will perform theatrical, dance and musical selections throughout the day on multiple stages. In addition, attendees will have opportunities to create a variety of 2D visual art. Paintings and other visual art will be on display and for sale.

Theatrical presentations will include selections from 101 Dalmatians by R. J. Vial Elementary School students, choreography by the Destrehan High School and Hahnville High School Winter Guards and scenes from The Little Mermaid Jr. by Harry Hurst Middle School students.

Dance performances will also be offered by the Allemands Elementary Cajun Dancers and the Stomp Team from Destrehan High School.

Musical selections will be performed by choirs, soloists, bands and wind and brass ensembles, featuring students from kindergarten through high school.

The public will be invited to join in the fun at the visual arts hands-on studio and as a performer in one of the several percussion ensembles or on the Karaoke stage.

Concessions will be available for purchase, and exciting door prizes will be awarded throughout the day.
