LULING – At the request of President Matthew Jewell and the Department of Parks and Recreation, the St. Charles Parish Council unanimously voted to approve the contract for the Rathborne Park Development Restroom Facility construction at Monday’s council meeting.

“After years in the making, we are elated to have finally reached this milestone and have the approval to begin construction of the Rathborne Park Development Restroom Facility,” Director Duane Foret said. “This is a great addition to the area and will be a fantastic amenity for one of our most-used parks in our Parish. We cannot wait until the day that it is complete and open for use.”

The 20-by-24-foot facility will have restrooms and a storage area, which the Mimosa Booster Club will use for their equipment and uniforms. Construction is expected to begin in late September 2023 and will take approximately five months to complete.

Rathborne Park is located at 702 Lakewood Drive in Luling and has a multi-use field, an outdoor basketball court, playground equipment, outdoor fitness stations, picnic tables, a volleyball court and a 0.84-mile multi-use path.

The contract was awarded to the low bidder, SAGE Construction, LLC. The total project cost is $351,000 and will be covered by the Recreation Fund.
