DESTREHAN — Juniors Tennis Camp will be offered for children ages 8 to 16 from 9 a.m. to noon July 24-28 at Cypress Lakes Country Club in Destrehan. The cost is $150 for five clinics, and prior tennis experience is not required to attend camp.
According to organizer John Hebert, the Juniors Tennis Camp is a great introduction for children planning to play rec tennis, high school tennis, USTA Junior Team Tennis and yellow ball tournament tennis. Students will learn hand/foot/eye coordination, athletic movements, basic racket skills, score keeping, rules, tennis etiquette and sportsmanship. Training will include some high intensity workouts with a lot of running, footwork and hand-eye coordination exercises. Coaches will teach match play on the full-sized court using various stages, depending on the situation. Rackets are available for use at each clinic. Please remember to wear comfortable clothes and tennis court shoes. Bring your own hat, sunglasses, water and a towel, and use sunscreen in advance of court time. Advance payment and signature of a medical waiver will be required. Online registration is available at johnheberttennis.com.
