LaPlace man arrested for illegal drugs, firearms

Ephraim Williams III, 47, of LaPlace was arrested July 8, 2023 on several illegal drugs and firearms charges.
Williams, a convicted felon, was arrested after patrol officers observed narcotics and firearms in his residence in the 100 block of Davis Court in LaPlace where they were doing a security sweep after two male subjects were injured during a shooting in the area of Davis Court. As patrol officers performed the safety sweep, they observed an open door to a trailer. Based on investigation, officers obtained a search warrant to enter the residence and immediately noticed the oven drawer to be completely pulled out, and in plain view, observed two firearms, one reported stolen.
After obtaining a search warrant, officers also located several narcotics, a smoking device, large stacks of cash and plastic bags associated with the distribution and sales of narcotics.
Williams was charged with illegal possession of stolen firearm, possession with intent to distribute marijuana (felony), possession with intent to distribute MDMA (felony), possession with intent to distribute cocaine (felony), possession with intent to distribute suboxone, possession with intent to distribute Oxycodone, transactions involving proceeds from CDS activity (felony) illegal carrying of weapon with CDS – 14:95E; possession of firearm/carrying concealed weapon by a convicted felon (felony); possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia 1st offense (misd); possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine (felony) .
Williams is being held in custody in lieu of a $406,850 bond.
