Garyville man arrested for neighborhood theft

On Saturday June 17, St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service in the 300 block of Historic West St. in Garyville in reference to items stolen out of a resident’s yard. Sunday, June 18, deputies responded to two separate calls for service in the 3000 block of LA Hwy 44 in Garyville in reference to items stolen out of two resident’s sheds.
After reviewing video footage from residents in the areas and crime camera footage, investigators were able to determine the same male suspect committed all three crimes. On Wednesday, June 22, investigators were canvassing the area where the crimes occurred and located a subject that matched the description of the suspect seen on camera. The subject was identified as Ulysess Brown Jr., 57, of Garyville. Ulysess Brown Jr. was interviewed by investigators and confessed to all three crimes as well a previously unreported theft.
Brown was arrested and booked into the St. John Parish jail on two counts of violation of LA RS 14:62 Simple Burglary (Felony) and 1 count LA RS 14:67 Theft (Misdemeanor). He is being held in custody on a $10,500 bond.
